Case Study: Employee of the Month Program

Predicament
The Human Resource department of a commercial helicopter manufacturer needed a way to motivate employees to increase productivity. They decided to start an Employee of the Month program to acknowledge those with the greatest achievements. In order for the program to work, they needed a gift for the winners that would not only be an incentive, but also fit with their theme "Reach for the Stars."
Solution
Their promotional products distributor presented the "Wrotate", a ballpoint pen with a high-polished finish over brass, that rests and spins on a high-polished 3-D molded star-shaped base. The manufacturer thought this was the perfect gift to fit their theme, and the rotating pen mirrored the motion of helicopter blades, relating it nicely to the company itself.

Results
The Employee of the Month program created friendly competition amongst workers and encouraged everyone to put in more effort. The feedback was incredibly positive and everyone agreed the Wrotable was a great incentive. In fact, the employees who won appreciated the gift so much that the helicopter manufacturer decided to begin using it as gifts to some of their top accounts as well.
