The Best New Products for 2012
Every January, TeamWorld sends representatives out to Las Vegas to attend the largest tradeshow in the promotional industry. This show gives us the opportunity to speak with all of our manufacturers and see first-hand what has been popular, what trends are changing, and most of all, what is new. Below is an outline of the best new products that are now available for custom imprinting.

As technology improves and fads change, the promotional industry is constantly introducing new accessories to go with popular electronics. As expected, this year there are a plethora of new accessories for MP3 players, tablets, laptops and smart phones. Two of our favorites seen this year are the Gripzilla and the Brand Charger.

People spend significant amounts of time in their cars these days, making the Brand Charger a promising way to gain a lot of exposure for your logo. This USB charger plugs into your car's cigarette lighter and has two useful USB ports to charge any type of electronics. Similar products have been out for a couple years, however the addition of a second port is an excellent update. There are a few different manufacturers that make this type of product, so there are options available at a number of different price points.

The Gripzilla is an easy to use, spring-loaded stand that turns a smart phone into an information center, a home theater, a tripod or even a recipe book. Smaller than a key chain, this product has soft rubber grip pads that clamp onto any smart phone, allowing the user to position it at virtually any angle. The best part is that this inexpensive electronics accessory will remain relevant and useful, even when upgrading to future styles of phones and MP3 players.

The Silipint was one of the new and unique items introduced in the drinkware category. This standard 16 oz. pint glass is constructed of 100% food grade silicone. The outer surface is grip honed, while the inner surface is polished and smooth. It is dishwasher, microwave and freezer safe, and virtually unbreakable.

In addition to some new container styles for sanitizers and sunscreen, one of the interesting new personal care items is caffeine infused lip balm. Available with a custom full-color label, this inexpensive giveaway is a great way to give a promotional a pick-me-up.

The Mirror Spirit is a unique item that would be great for fundraising or rewards. This new innovation takes the popular application of a promotional mirror to the next level. The patented Mirror Spirit has a back lit image and text to make your brand and message stand out and get noticed at anytime of the day. The mirror can be produced to any specifications and image size. While not inexpensive, this is definitely something to keep in mind when looking for unique recognition items.

The Rip 'n Write postcard pen is a fun new item that is perfect for any campaign involving response cards, as well as events like tradeshow raffles, career fairs, surveys, etc. This standard postcard has a detachable pen built right into the end. Just rip the perforated end to reveal the pen and get people to fill out responses immediately. This all-in-one product provides a great way to increase results while saving time and money. The only downside I see is that the minimum order starts at 5,000 pieces.

The Reversible Sweatshirt was the most interesting new product seen in the apparel category. What makes this piece cool is not just that the sweatshirt can be worn inside out or outside in, but that you can have a different decoration on each side as well. This heavy 18 oz. sweatshirt will pull double duty, making sure you get your money's worth.

In addition to actual products, every year at the show there are a number of new decoration methods introduced for both apparel and promotional products. Often they are variations of things that already exist, and have just become better as technology improves. This year, the ability to laser etch on polyester is definitely worth a mention. This decoration method involves burning the top layer of fabric with a laser, resulting in a darker, tonal mark on the garment. Previously, using laser etching on apparel was been limited to thicker fabrics like fleece. Being able to laser on really thin materials creates an opportunity to use more complex designs in corporate apparel programs.

While this sums up our favorite new items, it a very small portion of the products introduced for 2012. Contact us at info@teamworldpromotions.com for additional information or more ideas.
